Microsoft prepares new preview of Windows 10 for phones for later this week
We’ve seen a few teasers of how Windows 10 for phones is shaping up. After a lukewarm reception of Windows 10 for phones a few weeks ago, Microsoft has clearly been hard at work at improving what we felt to be a build that really wasn’t ready for consumer testing. We were waiting for a new build to reach the Microsoft Insider program last week, but as it turns out, it might happen until this week.
Gabriel Aul, Microsoft’s General Manager of the OSG Data and Fundamentals team has just tweeted about the current status of Windows 10 for phones. We heard about build 10080 last week, bringing changes like a transparency slider for live tiles, in addition to the launch of universal Office apps for Windows 10 on smartphones. Aul has just confirmed that the build is currently in internal testing, and if all goes well, we should expect the build to reach the Microsoft Insider program later this week.
One of the biggest benefits of this update is that it finally brings support to flagships like the Lumia 930, and its sibling the Lumia Icon on Verizon. We’ll keep an eye on the update and let you know once it goes live.
